Dumbo is the south entrance from Manhattan to Brooklyn. There is a water taxi depot, and many people come from Manhattan.
Along with Williamsburg, it is a tourist destination in Brooklyn and is usually crowded with tourists. Especially on the riverside, there are EMPIRE STORE and Time Out Market which are renovated warehouse districts, and Jane's Carousel that is an Instagrammable merry-go-round is also a landmark of Dumbo. But In the summer of 2020, different from usual I often saw locals relaxing in dumbo. Reading a book at a cafe, hanging out at a pizzeria, or take a leisurely strolling along the river. Just a short distance from the riverside in Dumbo, there is a prestigious residential area lined with brownstones.
Even in Brooklyn, the rent is as high as Manhattan and many of the residents are white. You can feel the atmosphere that is different aspect of Brooklyn where black culture is rooted.
Two large bridges from the East River and the Statue of Liberty in the distance welcome you comfortably.
